PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

hmcargollc.com hosts a credential phishing page titled "Access your file - OneDrive". It imitates a Microsoft OneDrive file-share notice and targets people who receive a link to a supposedly shared document, usually at work. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-09-09. As of 2026-10-19 the site is still online and redirects visitors onward.

How the scam works

The lure is a message saying someone shared a file with you. The link opens a page dressed up as OneDrive that asks you to sign in before you can view the document. The username and password you type go to the operators, not to Microsoft. With a working Microsoft login they can read your mail, open your OneDrive and SharePoint files, and send the same fake file-share link from your account to your contacts.

Evidence

On 2026-09-17, 7 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, Chong Lua Dao, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a minority of engines, so many security tools will still let the page load without a warning. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as a spam source, which fits a page delivered through phishing email. It also appears in 8 AlienVault OTX threat pulses and on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2018-06-21 through OVH, SAS, more than eight years before the phishing page appeared. Its name points to a cargo business and has nothing to do with Microsoft, so the OneDrive branding does not belong here. An older domain like this tends to pass reputation filters that would block a freshly registered one. The site runs on OVH SAS servers in France and uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the page is legitimate.

What to do

If you entered your Microsoft credentials on this page, change your password immediately from the official Microsoft account site, and change it anywhere else you used the same password. Turn on multi-factor authentication or re-register it. Then review recent sign-ins, active sessions, and any mailbox forwarding or inbox rules you did not create. Tell your IT team so they can revoke sessions and warn colleagues who may have received the same lure. Defenders should block the domain at mail and web gateways, search mail logs for messages linking to it, and check sign-in logs for logins to accounts whose users clicked.
