How the scam works

Mis-selling lures exploit people who believe they are owed money on a car finance agreement. A site that appears to belong to the dealer or a claims service asks for the details needed to "check eligibility": full name, address, date of birth, finance agreement and vehicle details, and often bank information for the supposed payout. That data feeds identity fraud and follow-up scam calls. Some versions also charge an upfront "processing" or "admin" fee for a claim that never exists.

Evidence

On 2026-10-03, 10 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as malicious. The detections came from alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, ESET, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft and LevelBlue, a spread of independent vendors rather than a single source. The domain is also listed on the PhishDestroy blocklist and appears in two AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have catalogued it as well.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-03-08 through PDR Ltd. (PublicDomainRegistry.com), about seven months before we detected it. A gap that long fits a domain that was registered and then held until a campaign needed it. It resolves to 50.87.153.140 on Oracle Corporation's network in the United States, which is offshore for a site posing as a UK dealership.
