gov-sp.com impersonated the Government of India. Its Hindi page title, "कर दंड सूचना - भारत सरकार", translates to "Tax Penalty Notice - Government of India". It has been offline since 2026-10-13, and on 2026-10-19 the site was still dead, with its content blocked by the hosting provider.
How the scam works

urlscan.io rated the page malicious and recognised Indian government branding on it. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL under the phishing category, and it appears in four OTX threat pulses. VirusTotal told a different story on 2026-10-13, when none of its 92 engines flagged the domain. That clean score reflects how new the site was rather than any sign that it was safe, which is why the urlscan.io and Spamhaus findings carry the weight here.

The domain was registered on 2026-10-12 and detected the next day. That timing fits a short-lived campaign built to reach victims before blocklists catch up.
