PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ethmix.to presents itself as an "Ethereum Mixer", an anonymous ETH tumbler promising no KYC and low fees. It borrows the Ethereum name to look like a legitimate privacy service for ETH holders. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-14, and it was still online and serving content when last checked on 2026-10-19. The page title advertises a mixing service rather than an official Ethereum page, and we classify the site as Ethereum impersonation phishing.

How the scam works

The page title, "Ethereum Mixer — Anonymous ETH Tumbler & Crypto Mixer | No KYC, Low Fees", is pitched at people who want to break the on-chain link between their coins and their identity. Fake mixers of this kind usually ask the visitor to send ETH to a deposit address and promise to return "clean" coins to a new address after a short delay, minus a small fee. Nothing comes back. Because mixer users expect anonymity and are unlikely to complain publicly, they make attractive targets. Everything a victim deposits is lost.

Evidence

On 2026-10-18, five of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a low count, so most security tools will not yet warn visitors before they reach the page. AlienVault OTX lists the domain in four threat pulses, which shows other researchers are also tracking it. PhishDestroy carries it on our blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Namecheap on 2024-12-05, roughly 22 months before we detected it. That is a long lead time compared with the throwaway domains common in phishing. It sits behind Cloudflare, Inc. at an address geolocated to Canada. The real origin server is therefore hidden behind Cloudflare's proxy network, so the visible IP says little about where the operator actually hosts the site.

What to do

Do not send any ETH to this site. If you already made a deposit, write down the transaction hash and the deposit address, and report them to any exchange where the funds might land. Ignore requests to pay an extra "release" or "processing" fee, and ignore anyone who offers to recover your coins for payment, because both are common follow-up scams. Defenders should block ethmix.to at DNS and proxy level, watch for similar mixer-themed lookalike domains, and report the site to Cloudflare and Namecheap abuse teams.
