en-start-ledgr-io.pages.dev is a phishing page impersonating Ledger. It presented itself as the official device onboarding flow under the title "Secure Your Ledger – Setup Made Simple at Ledger.com/Start". It targets people unboxing or restoring a Ledger hardware wallet who search for setup help and land on a lookalike. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-08-26. The site has been offline since 2026-09-04, and its content was still blocked by the hosting provider when last checked on 2026-10-19.
How the scam works
Fake "Ledger Start" pages copy the genuine setup page and walk the victim through what looks like routine onboarding. At some point the visitor is asked to type their 24-word recovery phrase to "verify", "sync" or "restore" the device, or is offered a tampered Ledger Live download that does the same. Anyone holding that phrase can rebuild the wallet on their own device and empty it. The hardware wallet offers no protection once the phrase has been typed into a website. The misspelled "ledgr" in the subdomain is meant to slip past a quick glance.
Evidence
Seven of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the site as of 2026-09-03: alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, Kaspersky and Sophos. That count is modest, but it comes from several unrelated vendors. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict, and the page is listed on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy. MetaMask's list matters because that wallet warns its own users before they open a listed page.
Infrastructure
The page was a Cloudflare Pages project, not a standalone registered domain. That kind of disposable subdomain is free and quick to replace. It was created on 2025-09-17, almost a year before PhishDestroy flagged it. It was served from Cloudflare's network, with the address located in Canada, and used a standard automatically issued Google Trust Services certificate. The padlock in the browser therefore proved nothing about legitimacy. Cloudflare's block followed within about a day of the VirusTotal detections.
What to do
If you typed your recovery phrase on this page, treat the wallet as compromised. Reset your Ledger, generate a new phrase, and move any remaining funds to it from a clean device right away. If you downloaded software from it, uninstall it and reinstall Ledger Live only from Ledger's official site. Ledger never asks for your recovery phrase on a website, by email or in an app. Security teams should block the pages.dev subdomain and watch for new Pages projects that combine "start", "ledger" and misspellings of the brand.
