PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

duty-ledger.pages.dev was a phishing page that impersonated Ledger, the hardware wallet maker, and was aimed at people who hold crypto on Ledger devices. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-08. The page title reads "Duty Ledger — Budget Tracker", which presents it as a budgeting tool, while we classified the site as Ledger impersonation. The site has been offline since 2026-09-16, and its content was still blocked by the hosting provider when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Ledger impersonation pages borrow the brand's name and look to persuade wallet owners that their device needs attention. Common pretexts include a firmware update, a security check or a sync problem. The victim is then asked to type in their 24-word recovery phrase or connect their wallet. A recovery phrase entered on such a page gives the operator full control of every account derived from it, and funds are usually moved out within minutes. Ledger never asks for the recovery phrase on a website, so any page that does is a theft attempt.

Evidence

On 2026-09-18, after the site had already gone dark, 2 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged it: alphaMountain.ai and Forcepoint ThreatSeeker. That is a low count, so most generic scanners would not have warned a visitor. The crypto-specific defenses did catch it. The domain appears on the PhishDestroy, MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, so wallet users relying on MetaMask's warnings were protected even where general antivirus tools stayed silent.

Infrastructure

The page was deployed on 2026-09-07 as a free Cloudflare Pages subdomain and was detected one day later. That timing fits a throwaway operation that can be redeployed under a new name in minutes. Traffic was served from Cloudflare, Inc. address space geolocated to Canada. About eight days after detection, the provider took the content down.

What to do

If you typed your Ledger recovery phrase into this site, treat that wallet as compromised. Set up a fresh seed on your device and move any remaining funds to it immediately. If you only connected a wallet, use a token approval checker to review and revoke permissions granted around 2026-09-08 to 2026-09-16. Never enter your 24 words anywhere except on the Ledger device itself. Defenders should block the domain and watch for new Cloudflare Pages subdomains that pair "ledger" with innocuous words like budget or tracker.
