PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

driveless.pt is a phishing page that presents itself under the Driveless name with the tagline "Driveless - Enjoy More". It is aimed at people who expect to reach that brand, most likely Portuguese-speaking users given the .pt domain and local hosting. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-11. The site was still up and serving content when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages copy the look and wording of a known service so visitors trust what they see. They then ask for whatever the operator can use, typically login credentials, personal details or payment card data, through forms that feed straight to the attacker. A victim can lose account access, card funds or identity data that is later reused for fraud. The page title shows a brand name that matches the domain itself, while PhishDestroy classifies the live content as impersonation.

Evidence

Six of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-16: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, Seclookup, SOCRadar and URLQuery. That is a minority of engines, but the vendors are independent of each other and of PhishDestroy. The domain also appears in 34 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which shows that other analysts have been tracking it. Among blocklists, only PhishDestroy currently lists it, so many browsers and filters may not warn visitors yet.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2018-06-21, more than eight years before PhishDestroy detected it. That age lets it pass reputation checks that usually catch freshly registered phishing domains. It resolves to 188.93.230.40 on the Claranet Portugal S.A network in Portugal, so it sits alongside ordinary Portuguese business hosting. The free Let's Encrypt certificate gives the site a padlock, which only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about who runs the page.

What to do

If you entered a password on this site, change it right away on the real Driveless service and on any other account that uses the same password, then turn on two-factor authentication. If you submitted card details, call your bank, cancel the card and dispute any charges you don't recognize. If you shared ID documents or personal data, watch for follow-up phishing calls, texts or emails that reference what you gave. Defenders should block driveless.pt and 188.93.230.40 at DNS and proxy level, search their logs for past visits, and reset credentials for any users who reached the site.

How do phishing scams typically work?

  • pig butchering — Telegram·왓츠앱·데이트 앱을 통해 몇 주에 걸쳐 신뢰를 쌓은 뒤, 돈을 훔쳐갔다
