PhishDestroy threat report
chipachips.com presented itself as AMLTestWallet under the headline "Unlock Finance Success with AMLTestWallet". It borrowed the look of an anti-money-laundering wallet screening service to reach crypto users who worry their funds might be flagged. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-14. The site has been offline since 2026-10-17 after its provider blocked the content, and it was still down when last checked on 2026-10-19.
Fake AML-check sites play on a real fear: that an exchange will freeze your coins because they touched "dirty" funds. The visitor is offered a quick risk score for their address. To get it, they must connect a wallet and approve a request, or sometimes type in a recovery phrase. That approval or phrase is the theft. A signed token permission lets the operator move the approved assets, and a seed phrase hands over the entire wallet. The promised AML report is only bait.
Wallet-security blocklists caught this domain early, while generic antivirus did not. On 2026-10-14, none of the 92 VirusTotal engines flagged it. Despite that, it is listed by MetaMask and SEAL as well as PhishDestroy, and Spamhaus DBL classifies it as phishing. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it. A clean antivirus scan should not reassure anyone here, because crypto-specific feeds have it marked.
The domain was registered through Namecheap on 2025-12-12, roughly ten months before it surfaced as phishing. A long-held domain can slip past filters that distrust brand-new registrations. Traffic ran through Cloudflare, with the address geolocated to Canada, which hides the true origin server. The Let's Encrypt certificate only means the padlock was free and automatic, not that the site was legitimate.
If you connected a wallet to chipachips.com, open a token-approval checker for every chain you used and revoke any permissions you do not recognise. Do this before moving more funds into that wallet. If you entered a recovery phrase, treat the wallet as compromised: create a new wallet with a fresh phrase and move everything left over immediately. Real AML screening never needs your seed phrase or a spending approval. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and search logs for earlier visits from staff or customers.
