cg-gamespc.net poses as CG-gamesPC, a free PC game download portal. It uses a .net address and the page title "CG-gamesPC.com | Download games free" to pass itself off as the .com brand. The target is PC gamers looking for no-cost game downloads, an audience used to clicking download buttons on unfamiliar pages. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-09-24, and it was still online and serving content on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Lookalike download portals rely on brand recognition. A visitor who searches for the real site or follows a shared link lands on a page that looks familiar, then trusts its download links and prompts. Impersonation pages of this kind are typically used to collect logins or to push files that do not come from the genuine source. The visitor's risk is account compromise or a harmful installer on their PC. The swapped .net ending in place of the .com shown in the title is the clearest sign that this is not the original site.

Evidence

On 2026-10-07, VirusTotal showed 10 of 92 security engines flagging the domain. The vendors included alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Chong Lua Dao, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, Lionic and Seclookup. That is a minority of engines, but it is a varied set of independent vendors that agree with our classification. Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2025-09-25 through PDR Ltd. (PublicDomainRegistry.com), almost exactly a year before PhishDestroy detected it. A long gap like that suggests the address was held in reserve or ran unnoticed for months. The site sits behind Cloudflare, with its address geolocated to Canada, so the real origin server is hidden behind the proxy.

What to do
