PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

capitalindiceshub.com presents itself as "Capitalindices Hub," an online platform for trading market indices. PhishDestroy classifies it as an impersonation phishing page built to resemble a legitimate brokerage, and urlscan.io tags it as an investment scam. It targets people looking to invest or trade online. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-03, and it was still online and reachable on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Sites like "Capitalindices Hub" copy the look and language of real trading platforms: dashboards, promised returns, account tiers and support chat. Victims are encouraged to open an account and deposit money, often in crypto, and then watch fabricated balances grow on screen. When they try to withdraw, the site invents taxes, verification charges or "withdrawal fees" that must be paid first, and the money never comes back. Registration forms also hand the operators names, emails, phone numbers and sometimes ID documents, which are later used for follow-up fraud.

Evidence

VirusTotal shows 9 of 91 engines flagging the domain as of 2026-10-03, including Kaspersky, Fortinet, Sophos, Netcraft, CRDF, CyRadar, Gridinsoft and alphaMountain.ai. That is a modest share of engines, but the names include several major security vendors. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and labelled the content an investment scam. The domain appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses and is listed on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2025-11-26 through HOSTINGER operations, UAB, roughly ten months before PhishDestroy detected it. A gap that long suggests the site may have run quietly, collecting deposits, before it drew enough attention to be flagged. It is hosted in the United States on the Aquiryn LLC network. Its Let's Encrypt certificate shows a padlock in the browser, but this proves nothing about whether the platform is legitimate.

What to do

Do not deposit anything more, and refuse any request for fees, taxes or "unlocking" payments to release a balance. Payments made this way are rarely recovered. If you sent funds, record transaction IDs, payment receipts and chat logs, contact your bank or card issuer, and report the case to the police and your national fraud center. If you gave ID documents or contact details, expect follow-up "recovery" offers and treat them as scams too. Change any password you reused on the site. Security teams should block the domain and its hosting IP at the DNS and proxy level, and search their logs for users who visited it.
