PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

bitcoingenerator.me trades on the Bitcoin name with a promise no software can keep: generating bitcoin out of nothing. It targets people hoping for free coins, especially newcomers who do not yet know that bitcoin cannot be created this way. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-10-01, and as of 2026-10-19 it was still online and serving a redirect.

How the scam works

"Bitcoin generator" schemes show a fake tool that appears to mint or unlock coins, then demand something before the payout. Usually the victim is asked to send a small "activation" or "network fee" in bitcoin, or to enter a wallet seed phrase or private key so the coins can supposedly be delivered. Either way the victim loses money: fees are simply pocketed, and a surrendered seed phrase lets the operators empty the wallet. The page title reads "Redirecting…" instead of showing Bitcoin branding, while we classify the domain as Bitcoin impersonation phishing.

Evidence

VirusTotal shows 8 of 91 engines flagging the domain as of 2026-10-03: alphaMountain.ai, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Webroot, LevelBlue, SOCRadar, URLQuery and Chong Lua Dao. That is a minority of engines, but these vendors run independent detection pipelines and reached the same verdict separately. The domain also appears in 2 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which means other researchers have tracked it too. PhishDestroy is currently the only blocklist in our coverage that lists it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2024-02-18 through CommuniGal Communication Ltd., more than two and a half years before PhishDestroy detected it. An aged domain can slip past filters that treat newly registered names with suspicion. It is hosted in the Netherlands on AS43350, NForce Entertainment B.V. Its free Let's Encrypt certificate adds the padlock icon, which only means the connection is encrypted, not that the site is legitimate.

What to do

No legitimate service generates bitcoin, so do not pay any fee or deposit the site asks for. If you entered a seed phrase or private key, treat that wallet as compromised: create a new wallet on a trusted device and move any remaining funds there immediately. Bitcoin transfers cannot be reversed, so if you already paid, save the transaction ID and report it to your exchange and local cybercrime authorities. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and check logs for users who reached it.
