bestchange.com.co is an impersonation phishing page posing as BestChange, the well-known monitor that compares exchange rates across crypto and e-money exchangers. Its Russian-language title, "BestChange — мониторинг обменников и выгодные курсы" ("exchanger monitoring and favorable rates"), shows it targets the Russian-speaking audience that relies on the real service to pick a trustworthy exchanger. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-27. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content.
How the scam works
People trust BestChange because it filters exchangers by reserves and reputation, so a copy of it becomes a funnel. Schemes of this kind present a familiar-looking rate table, then route visitors to exchangers controlled by the scammers or to fake order forms. The victim sends crypto or fiat expecting a favorable swap, and nothing arrives in return. Some versions also add surprise "verification" or "withdrawal" fees to extract a second payment. Because crypto transfers are irreversible, money sent through such a clone is almost never recovered.
Evidence
urlscan.io rated the page malicious and recognized the BestChange brand on it, which matches our classification. VirusTotal coverage is thin: as of 2026-10-10 only 4 of 92 engines flagged it (alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar). Most browsers and security tools will therefore not warn visitors yet. The domain appears in 3 AlienVault OTX threat pulses and is listed on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-09-21 through Hosting Concepts B.V. d/b/a Registrar.eu, only six days before we detected it. That short gap is typical of a site built for a quick campaign. The .com.co ending is chosen to resemble the genuine brand at a glance. The site sits behind Cloudflare, Inc. (geolocated to CA), so the origin server is concealed. It carries a free Let's Encrypt certificate, which means the browser padlock proves nothing about legitimacy.
What to do
Do not use this site to choose an exchanger or place an order, and reach BestChange only by typing its known address or using a saved bookmark. If you sent funds through an exchanger you found here, stop all contact and refuse any request for extra "fees" to release your money. Record the transaction hashes and report them to your wallet or exchange provider and to local police. If you created an account or typed a password on the page, change it anywhere else you reuse it. Security teams should block the domain, watch for other lookalike BestChange domains, and submit reports to the registrar and Cloudflare.
