PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

barrycode.com is on the PhishDestroy blocklist as an impersonation phishing page that targets anyone who lands on it expecting a legitimate site. The page currently presents itself as "Barry Codell Baseball Statistics," a personal sports-stats title that does not match our impersonation classification. PhishDestroy first saw the domain on 2026-09-11, and on 2026-10-19 the site was still online with its content live.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages borrow the name, look or reputation of someone the visitor already trusts, then use that trust to collect logins, personal details or payments. The impersonated identity is the bait. The real goal is to get the visitor to act, for example by signing in, filling out a form or following a prompt to another service. Anyone who acts on that borrowed trust can lose account access, personal information or money to whoever runs the page.

Evidence

Six of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-09-20: alphaMountain.ai, Chong Lua Dao, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That is a minority of engines, so many default protections may not block the site yet. The flags come from unrelated vendors, though, including a Vietnamese anti-scam community and several commercial web filters, which makes a single false positive unlikely. The domain also appears in five AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which shows other researchers have tracked it independently.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2007-03-30 through GoDaddy.com, LLC, nearly two decades before PhishDestroy detected it. That makes it an aged domain rather than a freshly registered throwaway. Because of that age, reputation systems that favour long-lived domains may treat it more leniently. The site is hosted on GoDaddy's network in the United States.

What to do

If you typed a password or other login details on barrycode.com, change that password at once wherever you have reused it, and turn on two-factor authentication for the affected accounts. If you shared payment or personal details, contact your bank or card issuer and watch for follow-up messages that use the same identity to pressure you. Do not return to the page to "check" anything. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, search mail and web logs for earlier visits, and warn users who reached it.
