balancer-2.net is an impersonation phishing page that copies Balancer, the decentralized exchange and automated market maker. It reused Balancer's own tagline, "Balancer—AMMs made easy," as its page title. Its targets are DeFi users who swap tokens or provide liquidity and might land on a lookalike domain through a search ad, a social post or a mistyped address. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-19. The site has been offline since 2026-09-28 and was still unreachable on 2026-10-19.
How the scam works
Fake DeFi front ends like this one mirror the real app closely enough that a visitor clicks "Connect wallet" without checking the domain. The clone then asks for a transaction or signature that looks like a routine swap or pool deposit. In practice, that approval hands an attacker permission to move the victim's tokens. A single signed approval can empty every balance it covers, and because the transfer happens on-chain, it cannot be reversed.
Evidence
When VirusTotal scanned the domain on 2026-09-21, 9 of 89 engines flagged it. They included alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, CyRadar, Ermes, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a modest share, but the wallet-focused blocklists are more telling. MetaMask and the SEAL security alliance both list the domain alongside PhishDestroy, and Spamhaus classifies it as DBL_PHISH. Those are the lists that actually stop users at the wallet and DNS level.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-06-18 through NICENIC INTERNATIONAL GROUP CO., LIMITED. It sat for roughly three months before PhishDestroy caught it, a gap that suggests it was held in reserve rather than spun up the same day. Traffic ran through Cloudflare, with the edge address located in Canada, so the origin server stayed hidden behind the proxy. The "-2" suffix on the brand name is a common pattern for lookalike domains that pass as a mirror or second version of the real site.
What to do
If you connected a wallet to balancer-2.net, open a token-approval checker for every chain you used and revoke any allowances you don't recognize. If you signed a transaction there, move your remaining assets to a fresh wallet. If you entered a seed phrase, treat the wallet as fully compromised and stop using it. In future, reach Balancer only through a bookmarked official address, and read every wallet prompt before you approve it. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and watch for other numbered or hyphenated Balancer lookalikes.
