How the scam works
The page title, "Официальное зеркало Mega Darknet - Актуальные ссылки," plays on a constant problem for darknet market users: addresses change and get blocked, so people search for fresh mirrors. Fake mirror sites exploit that search traffic. They point visitors to lookalike login pages that capture usernames, passwords and sometimes 2FA or PGP-related details, or they show deposit addresses that send funds straight to the operator. Victims can lose the cryptocurrency they deposit, and they can lose control of their account on the real market. Because the activity sits outside legal protection, these victims rarely report it, which makes the scheme low-risk for the scammer.
Evidence
Six of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-07: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a modest count, so many browsers and filters will not yet warn visitors. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as a spam source, which suggests it is being pushed through unsolicited promotion. It also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it independently.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc on 2026-08-11, about seven and a half weeks before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap is long enough to build search visibility before the site attracts attention. It is hosted on the Omegatech LTD network, a Seychelles-registered provider, on a server located in Germany. Its free Let's Encrypt certificate gives it a padlock icon, but the padlock says nothing about who runs the site.
What to do
If you entered a username, password or 2FA code on this site, treat that account as compromised. Change the password anywhere you reused it, and reset any authentication tied to it. Do not send funds to any deposit address the page showed. Anything already sent should be considered lost, so watch for follow-up "recovery" offers, which are a common second scam. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and add the hosting IP to watchlists for related mirror domains.
