aiforcoinbase.com impersonates Coinbase. Its name pairs "AI" with the exchange's brand to look like an official Coinbase tool or feature, and it targets Coinbase customers and anyone holding crypto who trusts that name. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-04. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving live content, so it remains a current threat.
How the scam works
Coinbase impersonation pages copy the exchange's look and language so visitors believe they are on a genuine Coinbase service. The victim is then steered into one of several actions: entering their email, password and two-factor code, connecting a self-custody wallet, or approving a transaction presented as a routine step. Credentials and codes let the operators take over the real Coinbase account and move funds out. A wallet connection or signature can hand them direct control of the tokens.
Evidence
Eight of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-13: ChainPatrol, alphaMountain.ai, Chong Lua Dao, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That count is modest, but several of these vendors specialise in crypto and phishing threats, and the verdict is backed elsewhere. MetaMask's and SEAL's blocklists both carry the domain, Spamhaus lists it in its DBL as phishing, and three AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through GoDaddy on 2023-02-02, more than three and a half years before PhishDestroy detected it. That long gap suggests an aged domain that was kept or reused, which can help a phishing page get past filters that distrust newly registered names. It resolves to Amazon infrastructure geolocated in Canada. Its TLS certificate is a domain-validated one from GoDaddy, so the browser padlock only shows that the operator controls the domain. It says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.
What to do
If you entered your Coinbase login on this site, change your password from the official Coinbase app or a typed-in address. Reset your two-factor authentication, sign out of all other sessions, and check for unfamiliar withdrawal addresses or API keys. If you connected a self-custody wallet or signed anything, revoke token approvals with a trusted approval checker. Move remaining assets to a fresh wallet if you shared a seed phrase. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and add it to mail filtering, and anyone can report it to Coinbase and the hosting provider to speed up takedown.
