How the scam works

The page presents itself as an official Aave staking portal. Its promise of secure staking gives visitors a reason to connect a wallet and approve transactions without much thought. Fake staking pages of this kind typically ask the victim to sign token approvals or permit messages that hand spending rights to the attacker. Some also request a recovery phrase as a "verification" step. Either way, the tokens meant for staking end up in the scammer's wallet, and on-chain transfers cannot be reversed.

Evidence

On 2026-09-29, 12 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, including alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Chong Lua Dao, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data and Gridinsoft. That is a minority of engines, but the vendors come from several independent sources. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and detected Aave branding on it. The domain is also listed on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy, so many wallet users will see a warning before they connect.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-08-05 through Global Domain Group LLC, about six weeks before PhishDestroy detected it. That window was enough to set up the site and begin promoting it. It is hosted on Contabo GmbH infrastructure in France. The site uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the padlock in the browser only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the site is genuine.

What to do

Do not connect a wallet or sign anything on this site. If you already connected and approved transactions, use a token-approval checker to revoke every allowance you granted there, then move any remaining assets to a fresh wallet. If you entered your recovery phrase, treat that wallet as fully compromised and transfer whatever is left to a new wallet created with a new seed immediately. Reach Aave only through addresses you have verified yourself, not through links from ads, social media or direct messages. Security teams should block the domain and its hosting IP at DNS and proxy level and report it to the registrar and hosting provider for takedown.
