How the scam works
Coinbase impersonation sites copy the exchange's look so visitors believe they are on the real service. The fake page then asks for an email, password and two-factor codes, which lets the operators sign in to the real account and move funds out. Some variants also ask for a recovery phrase, which gives the attackers direct control of a self-custody wallet. Once credentials or a seed phrase have been handed over, the victim's balances can be emptied within minutes.

Six of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-09-17: ChainPatrol, alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and LevelBlue.
