Overview

verumplay.top presents itself as an "Online Crypto Casino, Sports Betting & Prediction Markets" platform, aimed at people who gamble with cryptocurrency. PhishDestroy classifies it as a fraudulent gambling site running the Gambler Scam kit, and first detected it on 2026-09-18. As of 2026-10-19 the site is still online and serving its casino pages.

How the scam works

Gambler Scam sites copy the look of a real crypto betting platform, often down to the game lobby, sportsbook and prediction-market tabs promised in this page title. Players are drawn in with bonuses or a balance that appears to grow quickly, which encourages larger deposits. The trap comes at withdrawal: payouts are blocked behind "verification", "tax" or "unlock" fees, or a new minimum deposit, and paying them only leads to the next demand. Everything deposited, plus any fees paid to release winnings, is lost.

Evidence

On 2026-09-25, 7 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Ermes, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, Seclookup and SOCRadar. That is a modest count, so many browsers and security tools may still let it load without a warning. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it, which shows other researchers are tracking it too. Among blocklists we know of, PhishDestroy currently lists it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-06-17 through PDR Ltd. (PublicDomainRegistry.com), roughly three months before we detected it. That gap leaves time to build out the casino front and start recruiting players before anyone flags it. The site sits behind Cloudflare, with the network located in Canada. Cloudflare hides the real origin server, so takedown requests have to go through Cloudflare rather than straight to the host.

What to do

If you signed up, do not deposit more and do not pay any fee to "release" a withdrawal. Unlocking winnings on this kind of site never ends with a payout. Save transaction hashes, deposit addresses and screenshots, report the theft to the exchange you sent funds from and to local police, and be wary of "recovery services" that contact you, which are a common follow-up scam. Change any password you reused on the site. Defenders should block verumplay.top at DNS and proxy level and flag deposits to it in exchange or payment monitoring.
