PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

us-ledgrlive.pages.dev is a phishing page impersonating Ledger, the hardware wallet maker. Its title, "Get started with Ledger — Ledger.com/start", copies the official onboarding flow to catch people setting up a new device or reinstalling Ledger Live. The misspelled "ledgrlive" and the "us-" prefix are meant to pass a quick glance. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-15. The site has been offline since 2026-09-23 after the hosting provider blocked its content, and it was still down on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake Ledger setup pages walk the visitor through what looks like normal device onboarding, then claim a sync error, firmware update or wallet verification is needed. The victim is asked to type their 24-word recovery phrase into the browser. Ledger never requests the phrase anywhere except on the device itself. Anyone who enters it hands over full control of every account derived from it, and the attacker can empty those wallets from any location without touching the physical device.

Evidence

On 2026-09-22, VirusTotal showed 14 of 89 engines flagging the page, including BitDefender, ESET, Kaspersky, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Emsisoft and alphaMountain.ai. That spread across unrelated vendors points to independent confirmation rather than one engine's guess. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and identified Ledger as the imitated brand. The domain also appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy's.

Infrastructure

The page ran on a free Cloudflare Pages subdomain created on 2026-09-15, the same day PhishDestroy detected it. Throwaway subdomains like this cost nothing and can be launched within minutes, which suits short campaigns. Traffic was served through Cloudflare's network from an address geolocated to Canada. The provider's block on 2026-09-23 ended the page about a week after launch.

What to do

If you typed your recovery phrase into this page, treat the wallet as compromised. Reset your Ledger, generate a new phrase on the device, and move any remaining funds to the new accounts right away. If you connected a browser wallet, revoke its token approvals as well. Keep in mind that a genuine Ledger setup never asks for your phrase on a website. Defenders should block the domain and watch for lookalike pages.dev subdomains that combine "ledger" or "ledgerlive" misspellings with regional prefixes.
