PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

twncoinp.com is an impersonation phishing site whose page carries the title "COINP". It wraps that brand name in a lookalike domain to pass as the real platform to crypto users. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-29. On 2026-10-19 the domain was still alive and redirecting visitors, so it remains a live risk.

How the scam works

Impersonation sites of this kind copy the name and look of a trusted crypto service so visitors believe they are on the real one. A page branded "COINP" invites the visitor to log in, make a deposit or connect a wallet. Anything entered goes to the operators. Credentials can be reused to empty the genuine account, deposits sent to the fake platform are lost, and wallet connections can be abused to push malicious transactions or approvals. The redirect means the domain can quietly send traffic to whatever page the operators are using at the moment.

Evidence

Nine of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-01. The flagging vendors include alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft and Kaspersky. That is a modest share of engines, but it is a spread of independent vendors. The domain also appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet users with those protections should get a warning. It is referenced in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which shows other researchers are tracking it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-09-22 through TuringSign Inc. d/b/a Cosmotown, just seven days before PhishDestroy detected it. That short gap is typical of throwaway domains bought for a single campaign. Traffic runs through Cloudflare, Inc. at an address geolocated to Canada, which hides the real origin server. The site uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you typed a COINP password here, change it on the genuine platform right away, enable app-based 2FA and check for unfamiliar logins or withdrawals. If you sent funds, do not pay any further "fees" or "verification" deposits the site demands, because these only add to the loss. If you connected a wallet, revoke any token approvals granted during the visit and move assets to a fresh wallet if you signed anything you did not understand. Defenders should block twncoinp.com at DNS and proxy level and watch for similar lookalikes of the COINP name.
