PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

trmlabscoina.com is an impersonation phishing page whose domain is built around the name of TRM Labs, the blockchain intelligence firm, with an extra "coina" bolted on. The page presents itself as "Trmlabcoins", a coin-flavoured brand that borrows credibility from a company crypto users associate with tracing stolen funds. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-06. It was still online and serving live content on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Scams that wear a blockchain-analytics brand usually exploit trust in investigation and asset tracing. They pose as a token or investment platform, or approach people who have already lost money and promise to trace and recover it. The victim is then asked to connect a wallet, enter account credentials, or pay upfront "processing", "verification" or "recovery" fees. Anything sent is lost, and a connected wallet can be drained through signed approvals. The "Trmlabcoins" title shows the operators recasting a real analytics brand as a coin product, a mismatch that legitimate firms do not make.

Evidence

VirusTotal shows 6 of 91 engines flagging the domain as of 2026-10-06: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, CyRadar, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and Kaspersky. That is a modest count for a three-day-old domain, but it comes from independent vendors. The site is also on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy. The MetaMask listing matters because that wallet can warn users before they connect. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL under the phishing category, and it appears in 2 AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through GoDaddy.com, LLC on 2026-10-03, only three days before PhishDestroy caught it. That short gap is typical of a site created for a specific campaign rather than any real business. It is hosted in Hong Kong on the Dimension Network & Communication Limited network. Its free automated certificate shows only that the connection is encrypted, not that the operator is legitimate.

What to do

Do not send money, pay any "fee" or connect a wallet on this site. Real analytics firms do not run coin platforms or charge individuals to recover stolen funds. If you connected a wallet, revoke the approvals it granted with a reputable approval-management tool and move remaining assets to a fresh wallet. If you entered a password or email, change it everywhere it was reused and turn on app-based 2FA. Anyone who has already paid should stop further payments, keep the transaction details and report them to their exchange and local police. Defenders should block the domain and its Hong Kong hosting address at the DNS and proxy layer, and enforce the Spamhaus DBL phishing listing on mail filters.
