PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

spirit-web.com is an impersonation phishing site. It poses as a legitimate service to win the trust of crypto users. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-29, and it went offline the next day, 2026-09-30. As of 2026-10-19 the site remains dead, and its content is blocked at the provider level.

How the scam works

The page showed only the title "Loading…", a placeholder rather than any branding. This kind of impersonation copies the look and name of a trusted crypto project. It then asks the visitor to connect a wallet, sign a transaction or type in a recovery phrase. A signed approval lets the operators move tokens out of the wallet. A recovery phrase gives them the whole wallet outright. In either case the losses usually happen within minutes and cannot be reversed.

Evidence

Automated scanners barely noticed this domain. VirusTotal returned just 1 detection out of 91 engines on 2026-09-29, and SOCRadar was the only vendor to flag it. The stronger signal comes from the crypto security community. MetaMask and SEAL both list the domain alongside PhishDestroy, so a MetaMask user would have been warned before the page loaded. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference it, which shows other researchers tracked it independently.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-09-12 through Fewmoretaps OU d/b/a Trustname.com, 17 days before PhishDestroy caught it. That short gap fits a disposable domain built for one campaign and dropped quickly. The site sat behind Cloudflare, Inc. on an address geolocated to Canada. That setup hides the true origin server, which makes takedown and attribution slower.

What to do

If you visited spirit-web.com but entered nothing, close the tab and clear your browser cache. If you connected a wallet and signed anything, use a token-approval checker to revoke every allowance you granted to unfamiliar contracts. If you typed in a seed phrase or private key, treat that wallet as compromised and move your remaining funds to a newly created wallet right away. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy layers. They should also check logs for any visits from around 2026-09-29 to 2026-09-30, and watch for lookalike domains registered through the same channels.
