PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

sourceab.com is an impersonation phishing page that presented itself under the title "SOURCE" to pass as a legitimate project. Its listing on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists places it in the crypto space, targeting wallet users who arrive expecting the real service. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-15. The site has been offline since 2026-09-28 and was still unreachable when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages like this one copy the name and look of a real project, here a page simply titled "SOURCE", and rely on the visitor not checking the domain closely. Victims are typically pushed to connect a wallet and sign transactions, or to type in a recovery phrase or login details under the pretext of verification, claiming or syncing. A signed approval lets the operators move tokens out of the wallet, and a surrendered seed phrase hands over the entire wallet outright.

Evidence

Google Safe Browsing classified the site as SOCIAL_ENGINEERING, its category for deceptive phishing pages. On VirusTotal, 10 of 91 engines flagged it as of 2026-09-25, including alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, Google Safe Browsing and Gridinsoft. That is a modest share of engines, but it spans unrelated vendors. Wallet-focused blocklists also list it: MetaMask, SEAL and PhishDestroy. It also appears in three AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-02-15 through Cloudflare, Inc., seven months before PhishDestroy caught it. That gap suggests the name was held in reserve rather than used the day it was bought. The site sat behind Cloudflare's network on an address geolocated to Canada, which conceals the actual origin server.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to sourceab.com and approved anything, revoke those token approvals now using a reputable approval checker, and move remaining assets if you are unsure what you signed. If you entered a seed phrase, treat that wallet as compromised: create a new wallet with a fresh phrase and transfer everything to it immediately. If you typed a password, change it wherever it was reused and turn on 2FA. Defenders should block the domain, check proxy and DNS logs for visits between 2026-02-15 and 2026-09-28, and warn users who reached it.
