PhishDestroy threat report
promo-sbb.com is a phishing page that poses as the online portal of SBB, the Swiss Federal Railways. It reuses SBB's own German-language tagline as its page title, so it looks like a real timetable and ticketing site to rail and public-transport users in Switzerland. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-04. When last checked on 2026-10-19, the domain was still registered but its DNS was inactive, so the page was not resolving. The operators could point it at a server again at any time.
The page carries the title "Das Online-Portal der SBB für Fahrplan, Zug und ÖV", which copies the real SBB portal. The word "promo" in the domain points to a common lure: a discounted ticket, a travel pass or a prize that only needs a small payment or a confirmation of details. Victims who follow the steps type their name, contact details and card data into a form that sends everything to the scammers. Many end up with unauthorized card charges or follow-up fraud calls that use the stolen details.
Independent detection is solid. On 2026-10-06, 18 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, including BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Emsisoft, CRDF and alphaMountain.ai. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and recognized the SBB brand on it. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as phishing, and it appears in five AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which means other researchers tracked it independently.
The domain was registered on 2026-09-29 through Gname.com Pte. Ltd. and was caught only five days later. That short window is typical of throwaway domains used in brand-phishing campaigns. The site was hosted at 196.251.122.24 on the FEMOIT FEMO IT SOLUTIONS LIMITED network, with the server in Germany. It had nothing to do with SBB's own infrastructure in Switzerland.
If you entered card details on this site, call your bank now to block the card, dispute any unknown charges and request a replacement. If you also entered a password, change it everywhere you have used it and turn on two-factor authentication. Treat any follow-up calls, texts or emails about SBB tickets or refunds as suspicious, and buy tickets only through official SBB channels. Defenders should block promo-sbb.com at DNS and mail gateways, search logs for past visits, and watch for new lookalike domains that pair "sbb" with promotional words.

This report combines saved page captures, registration and network records, scanner results and PhishDestroy reporting history. Each source keeps its own observation date. Open a source report to inspect the original result.
