PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

primecrediitunion.com is an impersonation phishing page built around a misspelled credit union name. The doubled "i" in "crediitunion" is the kind of slip a hurried member will not notice, which makes credit union customers the likely target. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-09-14, and it was still online on 2026-10-19. The page now sits behind a protective gate.

How the scam works

Impersonation sites like this copy a financial institution's look and wording so a visitor believes they are on the real member portal. Victims usually arrive through a text, email or search result. They are then asked for their username, password, one-time codes and sometimes card or identity details, which go straight to the operators and can be used to take over the account. The page currently displays the title "Bot Verification", while we classify the site as an impersonation phishing page.

Evidence

On 2026-09-26, VirusTotal showed 6 of 91 security engines flagging the domain: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Kaspersky, Netcraft and SOCRadar. That is a small share of engines, but it includes established phishing-focused vendors, so detection is real even if coverage is still thin. The domain also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which shows other researchers are tracking it. Among the blocklists we checked, PhishDestroy is the one listing it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-02-11 through Global Domain Group LLC, about seven months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap fits a lookalike name registered in advance and put to use later. The site is hosted in the United States on the Aquiryn LLC network. It uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the browser padlock only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about who runs the site.

What to do

If you typed anything into this site, contact your credit union right away using the number on your card or statement, not any contact details shown on the page. Change your online banking password, and any other account that shares it, then turn on or reset two-factor authentication. Review recent transactions and ask the credit union about blocking or reissuing cards. If you handed over identity details, consider a credit freeze. Security teams should block the domain, watch for other misspelled variants of credit union names, and warn members that the real institution will not ask them to log in through an unexpected link.
