PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

pauktun.space imitates MYXA VPN and advertises "Premium бесплатно", Russian for "Premium for free". It targets Russian-speaking users hunting for a no-cost VPN subscription. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-10-13. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and redirecting visitors elsewhere.

How the scam works

The page uses the MYXA VPN name and a free-upgrade promise to lower the visitor's guard. Lures like this usually push the victim to sign in, submit payment details for a supposed verification step, or install a client that does not come from the real provider. Depending on which step the visitor completes, they can lose account credentials, card data or control of their device. Because the site now redirects, the final destination can change at any time, so the visitor cannot know in advance what they will land on.

Evidence

On 2026-10-13, 16 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. The vendors include alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, ESTsecurity, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data and Gridinsoft. Because that set mixes established antivirus vendors with URL-reputation services, the verdict does not depend on a single source. The domain is listed on the PhishDestroy and CryptoFirewall blocklists, and it appears in six AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which shows other researchers are tracking it too.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-04-05 through REG.RU, roughly six months before PhishDestroy caught it. That long gap suggests the domain was set up in advance rather than registered on the day of the campaign. It is hosted in Russia on AS207713, operated by GLOBAL INTERNET SOLUTIONS LLC. The Let's Encrypt certificate gives the page a browser padlock, but the padlock only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you entered a password on this page, change it right away, along with any other account that uses the same password, and turn on two-factor authentication. If you gave card details, contact your bank to block the card and dispute any charges. If you downloaded a "VPN" app from the page, uninstall it and run a full antivirus scan. Get VPN software only from the provider's official channels or official app stores. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and the proxy, and search their logs for any internal users who visited it.

How do phishing scams typically work?
