PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

nowsecurederive.xyz is an impersonation phishing page that presented itself under the name FaucetNodes, a faucet-and-node style brand aimed at crypto users hoping for free tokens or node rewards. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-25. The site has been offline since 2026-10-14 and was still unreachable when last checked on 2026-10-19, but the domain could be revived at any time.

How the scam works

Faucet and node-reward lures promise free tokens or payouts for joining a network, then ask the visitor to connect a wallet to claim them. Impersonation pages like this one borrow a recognizable name, here FaucetNodes, to make that request look routine. The usual payoff for the operator is either a recovery phrase typed into a fake verification form or a wallet signature that grants spending rights, and either can let them empty the wallet. The domain name itself, built around words like secure and derive, is the kind of wording used to make a request for seed phrases or key derivation sound like a safety step.

Evidence

Six of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-07: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a modest count, but the stronger signal comes from wallet-focused sources. MetaMask and the SEAL blocklist both list the domain alongside PhishDestroy, Spamhaus carries it in its domain blocklist under the spam category, and it appears in three AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-09-24, just one day before PhishDestroy caught it. That timing is typical of a short-lived phishing domain built for a quick run. It was registered through Web Commerce Communications Limited dba WebNic.cc and served through Cloudflare, Inc. (104.21.74.87, geolocated to CA). Because Cloudflare acts as a reverse proxy, that address points to the proxy rather than the real origin server.

What to do

If you entered a recovery phrase on this site, treat that wallet as compromised. Create a new wallet on a clean device and move any remaining funds there immediately. If you connected a wallet or signed anything, review and revoke token approvals with a trusted approval checker, and watch the wallet for unexpected transfers. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, add it to wallet and email filtering, and watch for similarly worded faucet or node-reward domains registered soon after.
