PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

motocards.fun posed as Moto, a crypto card brand, under the page title "Moto | Spend Your ETH Anywhere". It targeted Ethereum holders looking for a way to spend crypto in everyday shops. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-11. The site has been offline since 2026-09-16, its DNS no longer resolves, and it was still dead when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake crypto-card pages use the promise of spending ETH anywhere to get the visitor to act. Typical requests are to connect a wallet to "activate" or "fund" the card, sign a transaction presented as verification, or type in a recovery phrase or account login. A signed approval lets the operator move tokens out of the wallet. A recovery phrase gives them the whole wallet. Either way, losses are immediate and cannot be reversed on-chain.

Evidence

Thirteen of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-13. They include BitDefender, Kaspersky, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, CRDF and alphaMountain.ai, a broad spread of independent vendors for a site only days old. MetaMask and SEAL list it alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet users relying on those protections would have been warned. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Spaceship, Inc. on 2026-08-27, just 15 days before PhishDestroy detected it. That short gap is typical of throwaway phishing domains set up for a single campaign. It was hosted on Amazon infrastructure in the US and used a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the padlock icon proved nothing about who ran the site. It went dark within a week of detection.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to this site, review and revoke any token approvals or permissions it was granted, and move remaining funds to a fresh wallet if you signed anything you did not understand. If you typed in a recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and transfer assets to a new one created from a new phrase right away. If you entered an email or password, change it everywhere you reused it and turn on 2FA. Defenders should block motocards.fun and keep watch for lookalike Moto card domains, since this template is easy to relaunch.
