PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

lightier.xyz is an impersonation phishing page posing as Lighter, the Ethereum-based trading platform. Its tab reads "ETH • Lighter", and the domain adds a single letter to the brand name, a typo a hurried trader could easily miss. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-11. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its fake content.

How the scam works

Pages that copy a crypto trading front end usually mirror the real interface and ask visitors to connect a wallet to trade, claim a reward or finish a "verification" step. The connection prompt is the trap. The victim is then asked to sign a transaction or approval that gives the operator permission to move their tokens, and those assets can be drained immediately or at a later time. On a lookalike domain, approving that signature is usually all it takes to lose funds.

Evidence

Six of 92 engines on VirusTotal flagged the domain as of 2026-10-16: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That count is modest, so many browsers and security tools may not warn about the site yet. The wallet-security side is clearer. MetaMask and SEAL list the domain alongside PhishDestroy, and four AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2025-11-25 through Web Commerce Communications Limited (WebNic.cc), about ten and a half months before it came to our attention. A long gap like this suggests the name was registered in advance and went live later, or that it ran for some time without being noticed. The site is hosted on Hostinger International Limited's network in the US and uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate. The padlock in the address bar therefore says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to lightier.xyz, open a token-approval checker for every network you used and revoke any permissions you do not recognise. If you signed anything you did not fully understand, move your remaining assets to a fresh wallet. Never type a seed phrase into any site, and if you already entered one there, treat that wallet as compromised and empty it right away. To reach Lighter, use a bookmark you saved yourself rather than search results or links. Security teams should block the domain, check proxy and DNS logs for visits, and report the lookalike to the registrar and hosting provider.
