PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

li-desktop-ledgrer.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page that poses as Ledger's desktop software, aimed at owners of Ledger hardware wallets. The misspelled "ledgrer" in the hostname is meant to pass a quick glance. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-08. The site has been offline since 2026-09-18 after the hosting provider blocked its content, and it was still down when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page presents itself as "Ledger Live Desktop® — Starting Up Your Device with Advanced®", a garbled imitation of an official setup guide. Fake Ledger setup pages like this usually walk the visitor through a convincing "device setup" or "sync" flow and then ask for the 24-word recovery phrase, or push a counterfeit download. Ledger never asks for a recovery phrase on a website or in an app. Anyone who types those words hands over full control of the wallet, and its funds can be moved without the physical device.

Evidence

When VirusTotal scanned the site on 2026-09-18, 12 of 89 security engines flagged it. Vendors including alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CyRadar, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data and Gridinsoft marked it as malicious. That is a modest share of engines, but these vendors flagged it independently. The domain also appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet users with those protections were warned before visiting.

Infrastructure

The site ran as a free subdomain on Cloudflare Pages and was served through Cloudflare's network from a Canadian address. Its listed creation date is 2026-09-14, close to when PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-08. That short window fits a throwaway page built for one campaign. Free app-hosting subdomains let operators stand up a convincing HTTPS page in minutes, so a padlock icon proved nothing about who ran it.

What to do

If you entered your recovery phrase on this page, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up a new Ledger with a freshly generated phrase and move any remaining funds to it right away. If you downloaded software from the site, uninstall it, scan the machine and only get Ledger Live from Ledger directly. Never type a recovery phrase into a computer or phone for any reason. Defenders should block Ledger-themed lookalike subdomains on pages.dev and similar platforms and teach users that legitimate setup never asks for the phrase.
