PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

This Cloudflare Pages site impersonated Ledger. It carried the title "Ledger Live Crypto Wallet App | Ledger" behind a long, keyboard-mashed subdomain that opens with "ledgersync". It targeted owners of Ledger hardware wallets and users of the Ledger Live app. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-08-31. The site has been offline since 2026-09-13, its content is blocked by the hosting provider, and it was still down when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Ledger impersonation pages copy the look of the official Ledger Live site and claim the wallet needs to be synced, updated, verified or restored. The goal is to get the victim to type their 24-word recovery phrase into a web form or a fake app. Anyone holding that phrase can rebuild the wallet on their own device and empty it, and the hardware wallet offers no protection once the phrase is out. Ledger never asks for a recovery phrase on a website, in an app or by message.

Evidence

On 2026-09-13, 14 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the site. They included BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, G-Data, Emsisoft, alphaMountain.ai, CyRadar and the Vietnamese anti-phishing group Chong Lua Dao. urlscan.io gave a malicious verdict and identified Ledger as the imitated brand, which matches our classification. The domain also appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet users relying on those protections were warned.

Infrastructure

The site was created on Cloudflare Pages on 2025-04-08, almost seventeen months before PhishDestroy flagged it. It sat on Cloudflare's network, with the IP geolocated to Canada. A random free subdomain like this costs nothing to set up and is easy to replace, so the same lure may return under a new name.

What to do

If you entered your recovery phrase here, treat that wallet as compromised. Reset your Ledger or use a new device, generate a fresh phrase, and move any remaining funds immediately. If you also connected a hot wallet, revoke its token approvals. If you downloaded anything from the page, uninstall it, scan the machine, and get Ledger Live only from Ledger's official site. Defenders should block this subdomain and watch for other pages.dev hosts that combine "ledger" with long random strings.
