PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

This Cloudflare Pages site impersonated Ledger behind a name built to look like an official Ledger Live help desk. Its audience was Ledger hardware wallet owners searching for help with the Ledger Live app. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-31. The site has been offline since 2026-09-11, and on 2026-10-19 it was still dead, with its content blocked by the hosting provider.

How the scam works

Fake Ledger support desks catch users who think their wallet or Ledger Live app has a problem. The page offers a fix, a sync, or a verification step. That step asks for the 24-word recovery phrase, which gives the attacker full control of every account the device protects, so the funds can be moved immediately and for good. The page title now reads "Suspected Phishing | Cloudflare" and urlscan.io identified generic Cloudflare branding rather than Ledger, which means the provider's warning page is now served in place of the original content.

Evidence

On 2026-09-12, 16 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the site, including BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, G-Data, Emsisoft, CyRadar, alphaMountain.ai and Criminal IP. Those are separate commercial and research engines reaching the same verdict on their own. urlscan.io rated the page malicious. The site also appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet users with those protections would have been warned before it loaded.

Infrastructure

The pages.dev subdomain was created on 2025-10-09, almost eleven months before PhishDestroy detected it. Free static hosting like this lets operators publish under a trusted-looking platform address without registering their own domain. The site was served from Cloudflare, Inc. network space geolocated to Canada, and Cloudflare is the party that took it down by blocking the content.

What to do

If you typed your Ledger recovery phrase into this site, treat that phrase as compromised. Set up a new wallet with a freshly generated phrase on your device and move any remaining assets there right away. Never reuse the old phrase. Ledger never asks for your recovery phrase through any website, chat or support form. Security teams should block the domain, look through proxy and DNS logs for visits from before 2026-09-11, and warn staff who hold Ledger devices about fake support desks hosted on free page services.
