PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

kucoinblock.com is a phishing site that borrows the KuCoin name to lure people who trade on that exchange. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-15. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content. The page itself carries the title "OSL," the name of a different crypto platform, while we classify the domain as a KuCoin impersonation.

How the scam works

Sites like this rely on the victim believing they have reached a legitimate exchange, often after following a search ad, social media post or message about account security or a "blocked" account. That is a theme the word "block" in this domain plays on. The victim is pushed to sign in, which hands the operator their email, password and one-time 2FA codes in real time. Those can be used to take over the genuine exchange account and empty it. Variants also ask visitors to deposit crypto or pay an "unlock" or verification fee, and that money is gone the moment it is sent.

Evidence

Fifteen of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-23. They include ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Emsisoft, Gridinsoft, CRDF, CyRadar and alphaMountain.ai. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and tagged it as a crypto scam. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as phishing, and it appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it, so several unrelated teams reached the same conclusion.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-06-23, about twelve weeks before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests it was prepared ahead of use rather than spun up on the day. Registration runs through Cloudflare, and the site sits behind Cloudflare's network with a Canadian-located edge address. This hides the actual origin server. The HTTPS certificate from Google Trust Services only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the site is honest.

What to do

If you entered KuCoin credentials here, log in through the official KuCoin app or a typed address right away. Change your password, reset 2FA, and review login sessions, API keys and withdrawal whitelists for anything you did not add. Change the same password anywhere else you reused it, and contact KuCoin support if you see unknown withdrawals. Do not send any further "fee" or deposit to recover funds, because that is a common follow-up scam. Defenders should block kucoinblock.com at DNS and the web proxy, and search mail and chat logs for links to it.
