PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

joinoy-okx.com.cn is a phishing domain that impersonates the OKX cryptocurrency exchange. It pairs the OKX name with an invite-style prefix under a Chinese country-code domain, which suggests it targets OKX users, including those reached through referral or "join" links. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-09. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving content.

How the scam works

The page currently carries the generic title "Under construction - Awesome site in the making!" even though we classify the domain as OKX impersonation. Domains built this way usually lure people with a sign-up bonus or invite offer, then present a copy of the OKX login or registration flow. That flow captures email addresses, passwords and one-time 2FA codes, and some versions also ask for wallet recovery phrases. With those details, the operators can log in to the real account and withdraw funds before the victim notices.

Evidence

On 2026-10-13, 7 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That count is modest, but the detections come from independent vendors that agree with each other. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL with a phishing tag, which matters because many mail filters block on that list. The MetaMask and SEAL blocklists carry it as well, alongside PhishDestroy.

Infrastructure

The site resolves to 35.213.167.109 on Google LLC cloud infrastructure in Singapore. That kind of rented cloud hosting is quick to set up and quick to replace. It uses a free Let's Encrypt (YR2) certificate, so the padlock in the browser only means the connection is encrypted. It says nothing about whether the site is really OKX.

What to do

If you entered OKX credentials on this site, change your OKX password immediately from the official app. Then reset 2FA, sign out all active sessions, and delete any API keys you did not create. Check your withdrawal address whitelist and recent account activity, and contact OKX support if you see anything you don't recognize. If you typed a wallet recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and move the funds to a new wallet. Defenders should block the domain and its IP at DNS, proxy and email gateways, and use the Spamhaus DBL listing to filter lure messages.
