PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

home-ledgr-com-start.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page posing as Ledger's official device onboarding flow. It used the title "Ledger.com/Start — Official Ledger Wallet Setup" and targeted people unboxing or restoring a Ledger hardware wallet. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-14. It has been offline since 2026-09-23, its content is blocked by the hosting provider, and it was still dead when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page copies the step people follow when they set up a new Ledger, and the misspelled "ledgr" in the hostname is easy to miss. Fake setup pages like this typically tell the visitor to "verify" or "restore" the wallet by typing in the 24-word recovery phrase, or they push a counterfeit Ledger Live download. Anyone who holds the recovery phrase controls every account derived from it, so a victim who enters it can lose the entire contents of the wallet. A genuine Ledger setup never asks you to type your recovery phrase into a website.

Evidence

When VirusTotal checked the page on 2026-09-23, 15 of 89 security engines flagged it, including Google Safe Browsing, BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Emsisoft and alphaMountain.ai. Google Safe Browsing classifies it as social engineering, so Chrome and other browsers that use that list show a warning. The domain also appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists in addition to PhishDestroy. These are independent sources, and they agree with our classification.

Infrastructure

The site ran as a free subdomain on Cloudflare's Pages hosting, served from Cloudflare, Inc. in Canada (CA). It was registered on 2026-09-06, just eight days before PhishDestroy detected it, which fits a short-lived campaign page. Its TLS certificate came from Google Trust Services and was issued automatically, so the padlock in the browser said nothing about whether the site was legitimate.

What to do

If you typed your recovery phrase into this page, treat it as compromised. Set up a fresh wallet with a new phrase on your genuine Ledger device, move any remaining funds there immediately, and never reuse the old phrase. If you downloaded software from the page, uninstall it, run a full malware scan, and reinstall Ledger Live only from Ledger's official site. If you connected a software wallet, also review and revoke any token approvals you granted. Defenders should block the hostname and watch for similar Ledger-themed lookalikes on free Pages subdomains.
