As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content.
How the scam works
The page copies the look and pitch of a legitimate exchange: "Gate.io 加密货币交易所" (Gate.io cryptocurrency exchange) followed by a promise of broad coin trading. Look-alike exchange sites like this usually push visitors to log in or register. Any username, password or 2FA code typed there goes straight to the operators, who can then take over the real Gate.io account. Some versions also show deposit addresses or fake balances to collect transfers that can never be recovered. Either way, the victim loses account access, funds or both.
Evidence
Six of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-03: CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar, URLQuery and VIPRE. That is a modest count, so many security products will not warn visitors. The wallet-side protections are stronger: besides PhishDestroy, both MetaMask's blocklist and SEAL list the domain. It also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it separately.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Spaceship, Inc. on 2026-06-13, about three months before PhishDestroy caught it. That gap is long enough for it to have circulated quietly before anyone flagged it. The site sits behind Cloudflare, with the address resolving to Canada, which hides the true origin server. Its certificate comes from Google Trust Services, as with many Cloudflare-fronted sites, so the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the site is genuine.
What to do
If you logged in here, change your Gate.io password right away from the official app or a bookmarked address. Reset your 2FA, end all active sessions, and check for unfamiliar API keys, withdrawal-address whitelist entries or recent withdrawals. Do not send deposits or pay any "unlock" or "withdrawal" fees this site requests, and contact Gate.io support if your account shows changes you did not make. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and add it to phishing filters. They should also watch for related Gate.io look-alike domains that target Chinese-language users.
