PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

flarenetworkz.com is an impersonation phishing site built to pass as Flare Network. The trailing "z" in the name is meant to slip past FLR holders and Flare ecosystem users at a glance. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-05. The site has been offline since 2026-09-23, its content is blocked by the provider, and it was still down when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Lookalike domains for blockchain projects usually copy the official look and steer visitors to an action that hands over control of their assets. That action is typically connecting a wallet to approve a malicious transaction, or typing a recovery phrase into a fake "sync" or "claim" form. Either way, the victim can lose the tokens in the affected wallet, often in minutes and with no way to reverse it. The page title showed only "Just a moment...", a generic loading interstitial, rather than Flare branding, while our classification rests on the impersonating domain and third-party detections.

Evidence

Six of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-11. They are ChainPatrol, alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, Seclookup and SOCRadar. That count is modest, but several of these vendors specialize in crypto and brand-abuse threats. The domain is also on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy's, so wallet users running those protections would see a warning. Two AlienVault OTX pulses reference it as well.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-06-13 through Global Domain Group LLC, about 84 days before PhishDestroy caught it. That lead time fits a domain held in reserve before going live. Traffic resolved to Cloudflare, Inc. address space geolocated to Canada, which hides the real origin server. The certificate came from Google Trust Services (WE1), a routine automated issuance that gave the site a padlock without saying anything about legitimacy.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to flarenetworkz.com, review and revoke any token approvals or permissions granted during that session using a trusted approval checker. Then move remaining funds to a fresh wallet. If you entered a seed phrase or private key, treat that wallet as fully compromised and migrate everything to a newly generated wallet right away. Only reach Flare Network through bookmarks or links from its official channels. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, add lookalike variants of Flare Network to brand-monitoring lists, and report new copies to ChainPatrol, SEAL and wallet blocklist maintainers.
