PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

faq-ledge-r-live-aa-p.typedream.app is a phishing page that impersonates Ledger. It is built on a free Typedream site-builder subdomain and dresses itself up as an official Ledger Live download and setup guide. It targets Ledger hardware wallet owners who search for help installing or restoring the Ledger Live app. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-13, and as of 2026-10-19 the site was still online with its phishing content live.

How the scam works

The page title, "Ledger® Live: Download | | Getting started™ Ledger®", copies the wording of Ledger's real onboarding pages, and the hostname scrambles "ledger live app" into a string that looks legitimate at a glance. Pages like this usually walk the visitor through fake setup steps that end in a prompt to type in the 24-word recovery phrase, or in a download link to a counterfeit Ledger Live app that asks for the same phrase. Ledger never asks for a recovery phrase on a website or in an app. Anyone who has the phrase controls the wallet, so the operators can rebuild it on their own device and move every asset out.

Evidence

On 2026-10-17, 19 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the URL. The flagging vendors include BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Emsisoft, Ermes and alphaMountain.ai, which means mainstream browser and endpoint protections already block it for many users. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and specifically recognized Ledger branding on the page. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL under the phishing category, and it is on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The operators did not register a domain of their own. They used a subdomain on Typedream, a hosted website builder, which lets a convincing page go live in minutes at almost no cost. Traffic is served through Cloudflare from an address geolocated to Canada. The Google Trust Services certificate gives the page a padlock, but that only shows the connection is encrypted, not that the site is genuine.

What to do

If you entered your recovery phrase on this page, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up your Ledger again with a new phrase and transfer any remaining funds to the new accounts immediately, before the attackers do. If you installed software from the site, uninstall it, scan the computer, and get Ledger Live only from Ledger's official site. If you only browsed the page without entering anything, close it and do not return. Defenders should block the full hostname, report it to Typedream for takedown, and remind users that no legitimate Ledger page will ever request a recovery phrase.
