PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

exmonix.com presents itself as "Exmonix | CFD Trading", a broker offering contracts on stocks, gold, oil and indices. PhishDestroy classifies it as an impersonation phishing page aimed at retail investors looking for an online trading account. We first flagged it on 2026-10-07. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving content behind protection. The page title shows a self-branded CFD broker, while our classification is impersonation phishing.

How the scam works

Fake CFD brokers follow a familiar script. A polished trading dashboard and promises of easy gains on commodities and indices lure visitors into opening an account, often with help from a friendly "account manager". Victims deposit money, watch fabricated profits grow on screen, and are pushed to add more. When they try to withdraw, new obstacles appear, such as taxes, verification charges or "withdrawal fees", until contact stops. Along the way the site also collects identity documents, phone numbers and payment details that can be reused for further fraud.

Evidence

Six of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-10: alphaMountain.ai, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, Netcraft and SOCRadar. That count is modest, but these vendors work independently and include established phishing feeds. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and tagged the page as a generic scam rather than a copy of a named brand. One AlienVault OTX pulse references the domain. Among blocklists, only PhishDestroy currently lists it, so many browsers and filters will not warn users yet.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2025-10-27 through TuringSign Inc. d/b/a Cosmotown, almost a year before we detected it. That long gap suggests the name was registered in advance or operated quietly before it came to attention. The site runs on 23.153.104.17 within the Aquiryn LLC network in the US. Its Let's Encrypt certificate means the browser padlock says nothing about whether the broker is legitimate.

What to do

Do not deposit money, and never pay any fee or tax demanded to release a withdrawal, because those payments are simply lost too. If you already sent funds, contact your bank or card issuer immediately to request a chargeback or recall, and report the loss to your national financial regulator and police. If you uploaded ID documents, watch for identity misuse. Change any password you reused on the site, and treat calls from "recovery services" as a second scam. Defenders should block the domain and its hosting IP and flag mail or ads that point to Exmonix.
