How the scam works
Fake case-opening sites copy the look of real skin-gambling platforms and use promises like guaranteed or published drop odds to pull players in. The usual next step is a "Sign in through Steam" button that opens a counterfeit login window. That window captures the Steam username, password and Steam Guard code, or it pushes the victim to deposit skins or money for cases that never pay out. With the account in hand, attackers can move the victim's inventory out through trades or market sales. They may also plant a Steam Web API key so they can intercept future trade offers.
Evidence
Five of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-19: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. Its free Let's Encrypt certificate means the browser padlock says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.
