PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

This site is a seed phrase theft page masquerading as Coinbase, one of the world's most recognized cryptocurrency exchanges. It targets wallet holders who may believe they are interacting with a legitimate Coinbase support or extension portal. PhishDestroy first identified it on 2026-10-15, and as of 2026-10-19 the site remains alive and reachable.

How the scam works

The page presents itself under the Coinbase brand to convince visitors they are in a trusted environment, then prompts them to enter their wallet seed phrase — the master key that grants full control over any associated crypto accounts. The page title recorded was simply "Wal", which is truncated and inconsistent with a polished Coinbase interface; the classification is based on the page's function as a seed phrase harvester rather than its title alone. Once a victim submits their seed phrase, the attacker can import the wallet on any device and drain every asset inside it instantly, with no recovery possible.

Evidence

Nine of 92 engines on VirusTotal flagged this domain on 2026-10-15, with detections from BitDefender, Ermes, ESET, Fortinet, G-Data, Kaspersky, Sophos, and VIPRE — a broad spread across major security vendors that strongly supports the classification. The domain appears on three blocklists: PhishDestroy, MetaMask, and SEAL. Spamhaus classifies it as DBL_SPAM, an additional independent signal of malicious use.
