PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

coinbasefleetagent.fudace.es is a phishing page that impersonates Coinbase. It presents itself as the download page for Base, Coinbase's onchain wallet app, and targets crypto holders who want to install or restore that wallet. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-16. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online with its phishing content live.

How the scam works

The page carries the title "Download Base - Your home for everything onchain," copying Coinbase's branding so it looks like an official place to get the app. Fake wallet download pages like this usually take one of two routes. Some push a counterfeit installer or app that captures credentials and recovery phrases. Others lead visitors into a "restore" or "verify" step that asks for the seed phrase or prompts a wallet connection. Anyone who hands over a recovery phrase or signs a malicious request can have their wallet emptied, and those transfers cannot be reversed.

Evidence

Google Safe Browsing flags the site for SOCIAL_ENGINEERING. urlscan.io rated it malicious and detected Coinbase branding on the page. The domain appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists as well as PhishDestroy's. On VirusTotal, none of the 92 engines flagged it in the check on 2026-10-16, so a clean VirusTotal result should not be taken as a sign the page is safe.

Infrastructure

The page is served from IP 146.59.163.116 on the OVH SAS network in France. It uses a TLS certificate issued by Let's Encrypt (YR1), which is why the browser shows a padlock. That padlock only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the site is legitimate. The domain is a subdomain of fudace.es and has no connection to Coinbase.

What to do

Do not download anything from this site or type any information into it. Install Base or any Coinbase app only from Coinbase's official website or the verified listing in your device's app store. If you installed software from this page, remove it and scan your device. If you entered a recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised: create a new wallet on a clean device and move any remaining funds there right away. If you connected a wallet, revoke the token approvals it granted. Security teams should block the domain and its IP at the DNS and proxy level and report it to Coinbase's security team and to the hosting provider.

How do phishing scams typically work?
