PhishDestroy threat report
cmecpr.com presented itself as CME Group, the derivatives exchange operator, using the page title "CME Group" to borrow the credibility of a regulated market brand. It targeted would-be investors and crypto holders looking for trading or yield opportunities. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-10-14. The site has been offline since 2026-10-17 after its provider blocked the content, and it was still down when last checked on 2026-10-19.
urlscan.io tagged the page as an investment scam, which fits the most common use of a fake CME Group front: a polished trading dashboard that invites victims to open an account and fund it. Sites like this typically show fabricated profits to encourage larger deposits. When the victim tries to withdraw, they are asked for "taxes", "verification" or "withdrawal fees" that never release the funds. The losses are the deposits themselves, every extra fee paid, and any identity documents or login details handed over during sign-up.
VirusTotal returned 0 detections from 92 engines on 2026-10-14, so a clean result there would have offered no protection. Other sources caught the site. urlscan.io rated it malicious, and the domain appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy, which means wallet users were warned before connecting. It is also referenced in 5 AlienVault OTX threat pulses.
The domain was registered on 2024-11-08 through Gname.com Pte. Ltd., almost two years before PhishDestroy detected it. That long gap suggests the domain was either held in reserve or used quietly before this campaign. The site sat behind Cloudflare (AS13335, US), which hides the real origin server. Its certificate came from Let's Encrypt, so the padlock showed only that the connection was encrypted, not that the site was genuine.
If you deposited money or crypto through cmecpr.com, stop all further payments. Any request for a fee, tax or unlock charge to release your balance is part of the scam. Gather transaction IDs, payment receipts and chat logs, then report them to your bank or exchange and to the police. Be wary of "recovery" services that contact you, because they are often the same fraudsters coming back for a second payment. If you uploaded ID documents or reused a password on the site, change that password everywhere you used it, enable 2FA and watch for identity fraud. Defenders should block the domain, flag CME Group lookalike domains, and treat a zero score on VirusTotal as insufficient for clearing investment-themed sites.

A capture documents what was shown. A scanner result records that provider’s assessment at the time of its check. Neither a valid certificate nor a zero-detection result is a guarantee of safety.
