PhishDestroy threat report
charhen.com was a phishing page that posed as Coinbase under the page title 'Coinbaseltd'. It targeted people who hold or trade crypto and might trust the Coinbase name. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-11. The site has been offline since 2026-09-13 and was still dead when last checked on 2026-10-19.
The title 'Coinbaseltd' borrows the Coinbase brand and adds a corporate-sounding suffix, so a victim believes they have reached an official Coinbase entity. Pages built this way usually ask for a Coinbase email, password and one-time 2FA code, which the operators replay on the real exchange to take over the account and move funds out. Some variants instead present a 'Coinbase'-branded trading or investment dashboard and ask victims to deposit crypto. Those deposits go straight to the scammers and cannot be reversed.
On 2026-09-13, 18 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. For a short-lived page, that is a strong showing. The vendors included the crypto-focused ChainPatrol alongside BitDefender, ESET, Emsisoft, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data and alphaMountain.ai. The domain also sits on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists in addition to PhishDestroy. Wallet users and the security community were therefore warned independently of our own listing.
The domain was registered on 2025-12-16 through Gname.com Pte. Ltd., roughly nine months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests the name was registered early and held until the campaign went live. Traffic ran through Cloudflare, Inc. on an address geolocated to Canada, which hides the real origin server behind Cloudflare's network. The Let's Encrypt certificate gave the page a browser padlock, so that padlock said nothing about whether the site was genuine.
If you entered Coinbase credentials on charhen.com, change your Coinbase password right away. Update the password on any other account that reused it as well. Then remove unknown sessions and devices, and reset 2FA, using an authenticator app rather than SMS where possible. Review your Coinbase activity for withdrawals, new API keys or changed withdrawal addresses, and report anything suspicious to Coinbase support through the official app. If you sent crypto to this site, do not pay any 'fee' or 'tax' to recover it, because that is a common follow-up scam; report the loss to your local authorities. Defenders should block the domain and look in proxy and DNS logs for users who visited it between 2026-09-11 and 2026-09-13.
