PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ammswapx.com is an impersonation phishing site. Its name evokes an automated market maker (AMM) token-swap service, the kind of DeFi tool crypto users visit to trade tokens straight from their wallets. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-02. The site went offline on 2026-09-13 and was still dead and unreachable when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Sites like this copy the look and wording of a legitimate swap interface so a visitor believes they are on a trusted service. The visitor is then asked to connect a wallet, approve a transaction, or type in a recovery phrase to fix a supposed sync or migration problem. Each of these actions hands control to the operator. A signed approval lets them move tokens out of the wallet, and a seed phrase gives them the whole wallet outright. Losses from these schemes are usually immediate and cannot be reversed on-chain.

Evidence

Wallet-security lists picked this domain up quickly. MetaMask and the SEAL security alliance both blocklist it alongside PhishDestroy, which points to a crypto-wallet audience. Spamhaus lists it in its domain blocklist under the phishing category (DBL_PHISH). On VirusTotal, 10 of 89 engines flagged it as of 2026-09-13, including BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, CRDF and alphaMountain.ai. That is a modest share of engines, but the vendors span several independent detection pipelines. Two AlienVault OTX pulses also reference the domain.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Gname.com Pte. Ltd. It was active for only a short time. About eleven days passed between PhishDestroy's first detection and the site going dark on 2026-09-13, the same day the VirusTotal detections were recorded. Short lifespans like this are typical of phishing domains that get used, flagged and abandoned in favour of a fresh name.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to ammswapx.com, use a token-approval checker to review and revoke any permissions you granted. Then move remaining assets to a fresh wallet if you signed anything you did not understand. If you entered a seed phrase or private key, treat that wallet as fully compromised. Create a new wallet on a clean device and transfer whatever is left immediately, because revoking approvals will not protect an exposed seed. Report any losses to your wallet provider and local authorities. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and add it to wallet and browser protection lists. Variants with similar swap-themed names are worth watching for.
