PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

97zz1.casmex.at is an impersonation phishing page posing as Coinbase. It presents itself as "Coinbase Card" and targets Coinbase customers who might expect to manage or activate a crypto debit card. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-17. When checked on 2026-10-19 the site was still online, and visitors were being redirected rather than shown the page directly.

How the scam works

Fake card pages like this one rely on the trust users place in Coinbase's real card product. A victim arrives through a link promising card activation, a reward or an urgent account notice, and is asked to sign in with their Coinbase email and password. These pages often go on to request one-time 2FA codes or card details. With those credentials the operator can take over the exchange account and move funds out, and any card data entered can be used for fraudulent payments.

Evidence

Sixteen of 91 VirusTotal engines flag the domain as of 2026-09-29, including BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Emsisoft, CRDF and alphaMountain.ai. That is broad agreement among unrelated security vendors. urlscan.io rates the page malicious and independently identifies Coinbase as the brand being imitated. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL under the phishing category, which blocks it in many mail filters, and it is on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The page sits on a throwaway-looking subdomain of casmex.at, an Austrian domain registered through helloly GmbH. It resolves to 31.59.121.53 on the AS56971 Cloud network in France. The free Let's Encrypt certificate gives the page a padlock in the browser, which says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you entered your Coinbase login here, change your password immediately from the official Coinbase app or a bookmarked address. Then reset 2FA, review active sessions and connected devices, and check recent withdrawals and address-book changes. If you typed card numbers, contact your card issuer to block the card and dispute any charges. Report the incident to Coinbase support. Defenders should block the subdomain and the parent casmex.at at DNS and mail gateways, and hunt for "Coinbase Card" lures in inbound messages.
