PhishDestroy threat report
variational.money is a phishing site that impersonates Variational. Its page is titled Variational Money - Dashboard 2.0, and it targets crypto users who expect a new or upgraded account dashboard. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-13. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still alive and its content reachable through a redirect, so it remains a live risk.
The Dashboard 2.0 label is the hook. It suggests an upgrade or migration that users must complete, which gives visitors a reason to log in or connect a wallet without much thought. Impersonation pages of this kind usually lead to a wallet-connect prompt, a request to sign a transaction or approval, or a form asking for a recovery phrase or account credentials. Whatever the victim hands over lets the operators move funds out of the wallet or take over the account.
On 2026-09-22, 12 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. The vendors included alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, Ermes, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data and Gridinsoft. That is a minority of engines, but the vendors flagging it are independent of one another and agree on the verdict. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL with a phishing classification, which matters because mail filters and resolvers use that list. The domain also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses.
The domain was registered through Name.com, Inc. on 2026-07-31, 44 days before PhishDestroy caught it. That gap suggests it was set up in advance rather than spun up for a single burst. The site is hosted on Amazon.com, Inc. infrastructure in the US at 64.29.17.65. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gives the page a padlock, but the padlock only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the operator is legitimate.
If you connected a wallet to this dashboard, review your token approvals and revoke any you granted to unfamiliar contracts. Then move remaining assets to a fresh wallet if you signed anything. If you typed a recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and transfer funds to a new wallet created from a new phrase. If you entered a password, change it everywhere you reused it and reset your 2FA. Defenders should block the domain and its IP at DNS, proxy and mail gateways, and warn users that Variational dashboard upgrade messages are a known lure.
