PhishDestroy threat report
safepas.cam is a fraudulent website posing as CME Group, a well-known financial markets brand, under the guise of a decentralized trading platform. It targets cryptocurrency traders and investors who may recognize the CME Group name and trust it as a legitimate venue. PhishDestroy first identified this site on 2026-09-15, just two days after its registration. As of 2026-10-19 the site remains fully live and serving active content.
The site presents itself as a decentralized exchange offering low fees and high liquidity under the CME Group name, exploiting the brand's reputation to attract victims seeking credible trading platforms. Once a user engages — by depositing funds, submitting account credentials, or completing identity verification steps — the operators collect those assets or credentials with no intention of returning them. Fake exchanges of this type typically show fabricated account balances and block withdrawals, ensuring victims cannot recover what they deposit. The CME Group name is used purely to manufacture legitimacy for an operation designed to steal.
Six of 89 engines on VirusTotal flagged safepas.cam as malicious as of 2026-09-24, with detections from alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, and SOCRadar. While six detections is a relatively modest count, the site also appears on three independent blocklists — PhishDestroy, MetaMask, and SEAL — and Spamhaus classifies it as DBL_PHISH on its Domain Block List. Four OTX threat-intelligence pulses have been published against it. The convergence of multiple blocklists and Spamhaus classification provides strong corroborating evidence beyond the VirusTotal count alone.
The domain was registered on 2026-09-13 through Gname.com Pte. Ltd., making it less than two days old when PhishDestroy first detected it. It is hosted on Cloudflare's network with a Canadian-country address, and its TLS certificate was issued by Let's Encrypt under the YE2 authority. The use of a free, automated certificate and a privacy-shielding CDN are consistent with short-lived fraud infrastructure.
If you visited safepas.cam and entered login credentials, email addresses, or personal identification, treat those as compromised and change passwords on any accounts where they were reused. If you deposited cryptocurrency, contact your exchange or wallet provider immediately, as recovery options are limited but time-sensitive. Do not return to the site or follow any instructions sent by its operators. Security teams should block safepas.cam at the DNS and firewall level and add it to internal threat-intelligence feeds.
