reward-verification.online served a page titled "Fieldwork — Survey Eligibility". It borrowed the look of a paid research or survey program to pull in people hoping to qualify for a reward. PhishDestroy classified it as impersonation phishing and first flagged it on 2026-08-12. The site has been offline since 2026-09-11, and its DNS was still inactive at the last check on 2026-10-19.
How the scam works
The domain name and page title combine two strong lures: a reward waiting to be claimed, and an eligibility check that makes the visitor feel they have to act to qualify. Impersonation pages of this kind ask for personal details, account logins or other sensitive information as part of a supposed verification step. Whatever is typed in goes straight to the operators. Its presence on MetaMask's and SEAL's lists suggests the reward pitch was aimed at crypto users, who can be pushed into a wallet-connection or signing step framed as verification.
Evidence
Seven of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain at the 2026-08-26 check: alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a modest count, but it comes from several unrelated vendors. Beyond PhishDestroy, the domain is blocked by MetaMask's phishing list and SEAL, both of which track crypto-specific fraud. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference it.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Name.com, Inc. on 2026-08-10, only two days before PhishDestroy detected it. That fits a site built for a short run rather than a lasting service. It was hosted on Amazon.com, Inc. infrastructure in the United States at 216.150.1.1. The free Let's Encrypt certificate gave visitors a padlock icon, which says nothing about whether a site is legitimate.
What to do
If you filled in the eligibility form, change the password on any account whose credentials you entered, turn on two-factor authentication, and watch for follow-up messages that use the details you submitted. If you connected a wallet or signed anything there, review and revoke token approvals using a trusted approval checker. If assets are at risk, move them to a fresh wallet. Treat unsolicited survey rewards that require verification as a red flag. Defenders should block the domain and look in mail and proxy logs for earlier visits from 2026-08-10 onward.
